 Thanksgiving Campout

Nov 13 through 15, 2009

The long anticipated and sought after event of the year is finally here.  That’s right folks the November camp out / Turkey extravaganza will be held at The Fort Lupton Historic Park and Rendezvous site on November 13th thru 15th.  The site is located along the scenic South Platte River just north of Fort Lupton, Colorado.  The Park and Rendezvous site is approximately ½ mile west of Highway 85 on County Road 14 1/2.  We will be loading the troop trailer on Thursday November 12th at 6:00 PM. Scouts should bring their personal gear to load at this time.  The trailer is expected to be full and it is difficult to load personal gear prior to our departure on Friday evening.

Worried about the weather or by being buffeted by rain?  Well, have no fear because the Troop will be setting up the “Green Giant” tent to be used as a shelter, meeting place, and dining hall.  You will be amazed by its awesomeness and you can reminisce in its great canvas smell.

A Boy run troop?  You had better believe it.  Our Senior Patrol, Patrol, and Assistant Patrol Leaders will be cooking breakfast for us at the campout.  You will be astounded and amazed at the culinary skills that these boys’ have acquired over the years of campout cooking.  If they are not careful, they may end up cooking breakfast at all the campouts.

Have you ever hunted Moose?...At night? Well, now is your chance.  The Adult leaders will be the prey at the inaugural Ft Lupton flashlight hunt.  A fabulous prize will be rewarded to the Scout that hunts down the Monarch bull and for the Scout that hunts down the Matriarch Moose.  Now who could they be?  You will have to attend to find out!

Still not satisfied?  No plans have been made for the day activities.  Petition your Patrol and Senior Patrol leader for ideas of what to do.

BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE…..

If you act now you can take advantage of the Mighty Moose Patrol to sign off on or to work on advancement requirements.  I will need for you to send or give your Patrol Leader a list of requirements that you would like to work on so that I can help organize this prior to the campout.  Don’t forget to bring your book!
